MINI TUMMY TUCK

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)

The operation is ideal for a woman who is at or close to her ideal weight who has lost some weight, and or had some children.

The person is generally in good shape but is bothered by excess skin below the navel (belly button) ie. above the pubic region. This skin excess does not respond to either exercise or dieting. It occurs because of the loss of skin elasticity from weight loss or childbirth.

The treatment of this deformity is a mini tummy tuck or mini-abdominoplasty. In this operation, the skin excess is excised. The procedure is usually combined with liposuction (see liposuction) to the hips and to the upper abdomen, to tighten this skin and improve the abdominal contour.

It is almost always performed as a day case, meaning no hospitalization. The abdominal muscles are also tightened.

ADVANTAGES OF THE PROCEDURE
  1. Improves the shape of the abdomen with loss of the skin excess

  2. Improves waist

  3. Better appearance in clothing

  4. Improved self-confidence

DISADVANTAGES OF THE PROCEDURE
  1. A bikini scar

  2. A small surgical procedure is required

  3. Complications which occur with any operation eg. Infection and bleeding. Fortunately, these are very uncommon and can often be avoided.

This is a popular and commonly performed procedure, with a low risk of problems. It is a commonly undertaken procedure and the reasons for this are obvious.

The right procedure or treatment plan for you will depend on your unique needs and goals. The best way to received individualised recommendations is to book a consultation and speak with Professor Hudson in person.
